Second Ear records a doctor visit for the person you care for, then gives you a plain-language summary and an action list, each line linked to the moment it was said.

Add the person you care for, choose or add the doctor, confirm the consent step, then tap record. Allow microphone access when asked. Keep the phone close to the people talking. You can pause and resume. Recordings stop automatically after 90 minutes.
Only record with the permission of the person you are caring for. Some places also require the doctor and staff to agree. You are responsible for following the recording laws where you are.
Transcription and summaries run on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition and language model. If either is not available — for example speech recognition is switched off, the speech model for your language is not installed, or Apple Intelligence is not available on your device — Second Ear tells you it failed rather than showing an empty result. Check Settings → Second Ear, and Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri, then try again.
A phone call, an alarm or another app taking the microphone can interrupt a recording. When you reopen Second Ear, the visit is marked as interrupted and whatever was recorded up to that point is kept.
Second Ear restates what was said. It can make mistakes. Use the link on each line to hear the original, and ask the doctor’s office if anything is unclear. Do not change medication or care because of the app alone.
You can export a visit summary as a PDF and send it through the iOS share sheet. The temporary copy is removed after you share it.
Reminders are notifications on your phone with generic text, so health details never appear on a lock screen. If they do not appear, check Settings → Notifications → Second Ear.
Everything is stored only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes all recordings, transcripts and summaries. See the Privacy Policy for details.
